Estimates for Togo leather with gold hardware in excellent condition. Other leathers, hardware and colors move the price; see the full guide in the interactive vault.
Hermès makes its exotic Birkins from crocodile and alligator raised and tanned through its own supply chain, then matched panel by panel so the scale pattern runs symmetrically across the bag.
Shiny Porosus (saltwater crocodile) is the most coveted finish, with small, even belly scales. Matte Niloticus and Alligator Mississippiensis sit a step below it in price.
Exotics are offered even more sparingly than leather Birkins, usually to clients with a long purchase history, and boutique retail is roughly five times the Togo price.
Exotic skins come with paperwork: international shipping needs CITES permits, and some US states, including California, restrict sales of certain crocodile products. Confirm the seller can legally ship to you before paying.
Our verdict: The six-figure Birkin. The 25 in shiny Porosus is the one collectors chase; the 30 is closer to retail.
