Estimates for Togo leather with gold hardware in excellent condition. Other leathers, hardware and colors move the price; see the full guide in the interactive vault.
The Himalaya is matte Niloticus crocodile dyed by hand to fade from smoky grey at the base to near-white at the top, meant to look like a snow-capped mountain.
Getting the gradient even across every panel is extremely difficult, and Hermès produces very few each year.
It holds most of the records for handbags sold at auction, with diamond-hardware versions passing $400,000.
The palladium-hardware Birkin 25 is the most traded version and still sells for well over double retail.
Our verdict: The grail. The most valuable regular-production handbag in the world, with resale near three times retail.
