Every Cartier watch that actually trades, priced from real sales and graded S to F on the same scale as Rolex and Omega. Most sell well under boutique price, and the older steel classics are where the action is.

The meters combine into three horizon ratings (short term: momentum and liquidity; mid term: momentum, 3-year trend, scarcity and liquidity; long term: 3-year trend, scarcity and condition). Their average is ranked against every rated piece in the vault, so grades are relative: an S is in the top 5%. Score and grade: S 90+ · A 80-89 · B 70-79 · C 58-69 · D 45-57 · F below 45. Yes, plenty of Cartiers land at C or below: a famous name on the dial does not guarantee resale.
Most do not hold boutique price. Across the current steel Santos, Tank and Ballon Bleu models, recorded eBay sales land roughly 15 to 55 percent under retail. The Santos in steel holds best among current models; the Ballon Bleu loses the most.
By our grades, the older steel classics: the original Roadster, the Tank Solo and the original steel Tank Française trade often, hold steady and have been rising. Among current models the Santos Medium and Large grade highest.
Because that is what actually sells on the resale market. The original steel Tank Française alone sells about 100 times a year on eBay, far more than its 2023 replacement. We list what trades, not what is in the boutique window.
Every price is a completed eBay sale from the last three years (Terapeak), each listing counted once, matched to the exact reference. Listings with aftermarket diamonds, parts or another model in the title are left out. Boutique retail is Cartier's published US pricing; discontinued models show their last known retail where we could verify it.
