The 11.12, as Chanel calls it, is Karl Lagerfeld's 1983 update of Coco Chanel's 2.55 from 1955: diamond quilting, a leather-woven chain and the interlocking CC turnlock.
It is the clearest case of Chanel pricing power. The Medium cost $5,800 new in 2019 and $11,700 today, roughly double in seven years.
Resale has not kept pace with those increases. Recent bags trade well under today's boutique price, which is exactly why the pre-owned market for this bag is so busy.
Size changes the math: the Minis and the Maxi resell closest to retail, while the Small, Medium and Jumbo sit around two thirds of today's price.
Our verdict: Recent bags resell at about 69% of today's boutique price (Medium). A buyer's market, not a flip.
