A chronograph that also shows the day, date and month: one of the most complicated watches Rolex has ever made.
Collectors call this family the 'Jean-Claude Killy' after the French ski champion who wore a Rolex triple calendar chronograph.
Rolex made these in tiny numbers before simplifying its chronograph line into what would become the Daytona, so very few exist.
Dial condition and original hands drive the price. These rarely trade outside major auction houses.
Our verdict: A: a complicated, rare grail. Strictly an auction-house purchase.
