Sold prices from eBay via Terapeak, all conditions, including worn and vintage pieces. The resale range is centered on their median. Few sales, so treat it as a rough guide.
The Haut à Courroies (HAC) is the tall saddle bag from the 1890s that the Birkin was later based on, made to carry a rider's saddle and boots.
It looks like a taller, deeper Birkin with longer straps, and it is a quiet favorite among collectors who know its history.
Large bags are out of fashion, so resale sits below retail despite low production.
The HAC 40 in black or gold Togo is the classic version.
Our verdict: The Birkin's ancestor. Rare, but the market wants small bags, so it trades under retail.
Buy only from authenticated resellers or with a professional authentication. The most wanted Hermès pieces are also the most counterfeited.
