The 2021 update moved the Moonwatch to the METAS-certified calibre 3861 while keeping the hesalite crystal used on the flight-qualified originals.
The case, step dial and dot-over-90 bezel return to details from the 1960s references.
It is the direct descendant of the watch NASA qualified in 1965 and astronauts wore on the Moon in 1969.
Collectors treat it as the reference point for the whole Speedmaster family..
Our verdict: The one Omega everyone knows how to price. You lose roughly a quarter of retail on day one, but it is the most liquid Omega on the market and the floor has held for years.
