The 50th-anniversary platinum Daytona with the ice blue dial Rolex reserves for platinum alone. Replaced by the 126506 in 2023, which made this the collectible first generation.
Platinum sports Rolex rarely trades above retail; this one does, which tells you everything about the dial.
Platinum, ice-blue dial, chestnut bezel: the 50th-anniversary Daytona and the heaviest flex in the chronograph line. Ice blue dials are reserved for platinum Rolexes only, a rule the company never breaks.
Discontinued in 2023 and replaced by a version with a see-through back, making this the last 'closed' platinum Daytona. It trades above its already enormous retail, rare for precious-metal Rolex and telling.
Our verdict: The blue-chip anniversary piece. Scarce, instantly recognizable, and the ice blue premium is durable.
