Solid yellow gold Daytona on Rolex's Oysterflex rubber strap, the more casual way to wear a gold chronograph. It looks loud on paper and surprisingly sporty on the wrist.
Gold Daytonas do not follow the steel Daytona economy. The steel ones trade at about double retail; this one trades below retail, because the waitlist pressure that drives steel prices does not exist at this price.
It has been drifting down since launch hype faded in 2023, which makes it one of the few current Daytonas that is clearly cheaper pre-owned than new.
For a buyer that is the good news: a current-generation gold Daytona at a meaningful discount to the showroom.
Our verdict: C: lovely watch, falling price. Buy pre-owned at the discount and wear it; do not expect steel-Daytona appreciation.
