Rolex's last pure dress line, killed in 2023 for the 1908. Solid white gold for the price of a steel Sub.
Dead lines from Rolex have a habit of becoming cult markets a decade later; the Cellini wait begins.
The Cellini Time was Rolex's formal-wear thesis: no date, no sport, just a gold watch with a lacquer dial and a domed double bezel. The watch world respected it and bought Submariners instead.
Killed with the whole Cellini line in 2023 for the 1908. The discontinued-Rolex playbook says watch the best-of-breed survivors; within Cellini, that's the Moonphase first and this clean Time second.
Our verdict: Contrarian elegance. Massive gold-per-dollar, zero hype, and a discontinued-line lottery ticket.
