The story

Rolex's dress line nobody asked for. A beautifully made dual-time in solid gold that retailed at $19,400 and now trades around half that, because buyers who want a Rolex want an Oyster case.

The entire Cellini family was killed in 2023 and replaced by the 1908. Discontinuation rescued some watches; it has not rescued this one.

The Dual Time put two full dials on one gold watch, home and away time each with its own day-night indicator, guilloché centers, and some of the finest finishing Rolex ever did on a dial. Nobody noticed, because it said Cellini and not Submariner.

Rolex collectors are slowly reframing the Cellini years as 'the weird beautiful dead end', and dead ends with this much metal and craft for under half retail tend to find their cult eventually. You're early or you're wrong, and at these prices early is cheap.

Our verdict: The market has spoken: F. A lovely watch to own at $9,000, a terrible one to have bought at retail. Buy only if you love it and expect nothing back.
