The first Rolex moonphase since the 1950s, with an actual slice of meteorite as the moon. The best watch the Cellini line ever produced, and the only one collectors defend.
It still lost a quarter of its retail, because it's a Cellini. But unlike its siblings, scarcity is real: a short six-year run and genuine design merit give it a floor.
A sliver of actual meteorite rides the blue enamel moon disc, and the moonphase is accurate for 122 years before it drifts a day. It's the most romantic object Rolex has made in the modern era, wearing the least romantic nameplate.
The 1908 line's expansion keeps pulling eyes back toward Rolex dress watches, and every look rehabilitates this one further. The only Cellini with a real shot at 'future classic' status, priced today like a dead end.
Our verdict: D today with the best bull case of any F-or-D watch here. If any Cellini is ever rehabilitated by the market, it's this one.
