“Pre-Moon / Moonwatch”
Rank #4 of 32 in the Omega Vault
Average market price for an example in excellent condition. Dashed line marks the new moonwatch retail (2026).
The 145.022 replaced the 321-powered references and introduced the 861 movement in 1968.
It covers the Apollo era from the later Moon missions through Skylab and Apollo-Soyuz.
Early -68 and -69 examples are called Pre-Moon because production began before Apollo 11.
Collectors focus on originality, since many were later fitted with service parts..
Our verdict: The 1968 to 1980s caliber 861 Moonwatch, cheaper than a new one with real vintage charm. Originality is everything: service dials, replacement bezels and hands cut value fast.
