The story

Two-tone at 41mm, discontinued since 2016. The Wimbledon slate dial started on this generation and still carries the biggest premium of the run.

Two-tone's comeback has lifted the whole Rolesor family off its 2010s lows, and this big-case version has lagged the 36mm classics, which is where the value sits.

Two-tone Datejust II: the 41mm case in full 80s-revival colors, champagne dials and gold fluting, before the aesthetic came back. It was early; the market arrived late.

The Wimbledon dial debuted in this generation, a trivia point that gives it a quiet claim on one of modern Rolex's most popular looks, at previous-generation money.

Our verdict: C with the two-tone wind at its back. The Wimbledon dial is the one to own.
